Zumba is a Latin-danced inspired aerobics class combining elements of Salsa, Merengue, Cumbia,
Calypso, Reggaeton, Bellydance, Flamenco, Samba, and Latin pop together in a fun, energizing workout.
- How is a Zumba class structured?
Have you ever seen your friend start dancing a fun move and you joined
in to try it? That is what Zumba is like! No microphone is needed--just follow the instructor's moves and
add your own style. Just keep moving and having fun!
- I'm so uncoordinated.
Do I need to know how to dance to try Zumba?
Absolutely not! Zumba is for everyone. If you can move,
you can Zumba. Come give it a try!
- Do I need to be in shape to try Zumba?
No,
but you will be in shape if you stick with Zumba! You can get a challenging, heart-pumping workout if you move fast
to the rhythm or you can slow it down or make your movements smaller--it's up to you. Many of Annemarie's Zumba
class-members have lost 20-35 lbs. since starting Zumba!
- What should I wear to a Zumba
class?
Make sure you have good-quality, supportive exercise shoes, but, besides that, just wear what makes
you comfortable. If you want to wear sweats, that's great. If you want to shake your hips in form-fitting
workout clothes, that's fine too! Even skirts and embellishments like scarves and bellydance coin wraps are welcome--just
have fun with it! Zumba is all about having fun!
- Where are you located,
and is there parking?
Classes are held in Exercise Room #2 the Gig Harbor YMCA on Harbor Hill in Gig Harbor.
- When are classes offered?
Classes are held 6 pm Tuesday and Thursday
and run for an hour.
